With the S-Bahn from Munich
Please note: On weekends, the S-Bahn main route between Pasing
and Ostbahnhof is blocked! A direct train connection to Geltendorf starts from Pasing.
Take the S-Bahn line S4 from Munich main railway station in the direction of Geltendorf. Get off at the last station, Geltendorf. There there are shuttle buses waiting to take you to the tournament area at Kaltenberg Castle.
The shuttle buses start running 1 hour before the grounds open, so that’s either at 10:30 or 15:30. They don’t run on a timetable, but leave as soon as they are full.
No buses run during the actual jousting tournament in the arena, so there is no bus service between 13:30 and 17:30, or between 20:30 and 22:30 respectively. Afterwards they run again until either 21:30, or 23:30 respectively.
By train
From Augsburg:
Take a regional train (Bayerische Regiobahn - BRB) railway line going to Schongau and get off in Geltendorf. From there take a shuttle bus to the event grounds.
From Munich:
Take the regional-express train to Geltendorf. The journey takes about 30 minutes from the main railway station, and 20 minutes from Pasing. Shuttle buses are waiting at Geltendorf Station to take you directly to the event grounds.
By Car
If you prefer to come to Kaltenberg by car, there are sufficient parking places on the grounds.
From Munich:
Take the Autobahn(motorway) A96 towards Lindau, passing Ammersee(Lake Ammer).
Leave the autobahn at the Windach exit. From here the way to Kaltenberg is signposted with special „Ritterturnier“(Jousting Tournament) placards. Follow the signposts (towards Eresing on the district road LL13).
Keep on the main road through Eresing. After 275m turn left onto the district road LL7, towards Schwabhausen/Augsburg. Follow this road to Schwabhausen, and then turn right onto the state road ST2054 going towards Geltendorf/Fürstenfeldbruck.
After approx. 4 km you will arrive at Kaltenberg and then just follow the signposts to the parking lot.
From Lindau:
Stay on the A96 until the Landsberg Ost exit and then follow the signposts to Kaltenberg via Penzing and Schwabhausen.
From Augsburg:
Stay on the B17 until Klosterlechfeld.
Leave the B17 in Klosterlechfeld and following the signposts to Geltendorf. Keep on the country road, passing Lichtenberg, Beurback, Adelshausen, Unfriedshausen, until you reach Kaltenberg.
