The Kaltenberg Gauklernacht – a Journey into the Realm of Fantasy

Mystical poetry sets the scene for this acrobatic programme full of licht, music and fiery magic, and has become a huge box-office draw over the last few years.  Enjoy the magic of the moment with us!

Horse and rider rest this night, which is ruled by medieval entertainers, jesters, jugglers and acrobats, musicians, players and dancers. 200 additional artists from all over the world, have come just for this one evening, to transform with their performances, all of Kaltenberg into a gigantic poetical stage. The end of  the summer cult night is open and campfires often burn until dawn.

Every year a friendly contest among the Kaltenberg entertainers takes place, with the folk of Kaltenberg choosing the winner. On three weekends there is music, storytelling,conjuring tricks and amazing acrobatic feats.It’s worth it, then prize is the coveted Medieval Entertainers’ Wand, handed over personally by HRH Prince Luitpold of Bavaria.  Who will be chosen for this honour in 2011?

Throughout the Medieval Entertainers’ Night (Gauklernacht), the medieval market with its culinary treats, historic handcrafts and atmospheric camp life, will ensure the perfect medieval ambience.
